There are many excellent websites already detailing 'things to see and do' further afield in the Hebrides. We will list some of them below.
www.virtualheb.co.uk - excellent info on history, wildflowers, animals, moths, butterflies
Much of Uig is single track. Use passing places to pull over and allow other cars to pass you if they appear to be in a hurry!
www.calmac.co.uk - Ferry ticket bookings. Either Ullapool-Stornoway or Uig (on Skye!) to Tarbert.
Uig is approx: 50mins from Stornoway or 1hr 15 from Tarbert. BOOK AHEAD DURING PEAK MONTHS
Flights tend to be expensive to Stornoway.
If you have time on your hands you can fly Easyjet from most places to Inverness and then hop on the bus to Ullapool and take the ferry as a foot passenger.
www.citylink.co.uk - buses from Ullapool to Inverness. Takes approx 1hr 20 and coincides with ferry times.
